Depending on the composition of the waste, Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) can contain a number of materials including metals (ferrous & non-ferrous), concrete, ceramics, glass and brick. On average Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) is 10% of the volume of the input, and around 30% of its weight.

Trommel Fines Treatment can further reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. Trommel fines contain inert material such as stones, aggregates, glass and soils which are naturally occurring. Trommel fines can also contain fibres, films, plastics, wood and textiles.

RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) is made from domestic waste which includes biodegradable material as well as plastics, and has a lower calorific value than SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel).
